Abstract

Objective: To assess the impact of patients with COVID-19 sequelae on orthopedic care.

Method: Publications and research contributions were selected from the beginning of the pandemic in Brazil (2020) to the current post-pandemic period (2024), which related the influence of post-COVID-19 sequelae patients and orthopedic care.

Results: It was found that there are few records of attention to this serious public health problem: only 7 texts presented this relationship, varying in relation to the orthopedic disease.

Conclusion: Hospitals and clinics need a well-defined care plan, since Covid-19 has changed the status of some orthopaedic diseases, a fact that should also change the initial protocols for orthopaedic care. To this end, studies presenting an orthopedic care protocol should be carried out, to make the care of patients sequelized by covid-19 even more adapted to their previous condition. Here is a proposal for a care protocol, which should be disseminated in public health policies.
